A Senior Systems Software Developer within my client is a technically able and highly productive practitioner capable of working in a range of activities from early analysis & design, through programming, supporting all phases of development.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Software Developer, you will be responsible for:
Analysing requirement specifications, searching for information on solutions, specifying the detailed design for effective implementation (including e.g. secure coding)
Programming SW modules / classes; structuring writing, compiling, debugging and executing source code, algorithms and data structures, ensuring the code is understandable and maintainable; performing re-factoring where relevant
Formally documenting own designs, handling code versions, SW revision management systems, merging of different source code tracks
Specifying, developing, setting up and maintaining a design environment (manual as well as automated)
Qualifications
Skills Required
Five years OO software development/architecture experience in Java.
SCJP (Sun Certified Java Programmer)
SCEA (Sun Certified Enterprise Architect)
Expertise in development platforms & frameworks and in representational languages (e.g. UML, XML)
Expertise in OSS systems, products & protocols
Candidates will also require the ability to identify critical problems in software early, proposing solutions relating to
Architecture flaws & bottlenecks
Coding flaws, inefficiencies, negative patterns
Impacts on characteristics
Maintainability issues
Reviewing work, questioning, coach and advising less experienced developers
Finally, candidates will also require skills relating
Devising, championing and spreading best practice ways of working in software
Maintaining currency with the “state of the art” in software, including
Emerging technologies & frameworks
Networking via internal and external peers (e.g. in the Software Leadership Program & the Open Source community)
Experience of leading Agile Team
